dvd recorder connection

how should i connect a sony gx3 dvd recorder to a philips digital telly so that i can record the freeview channels

I assume your dvd recoder has no freeview decoder and only the telly does?

first connect both up with a SCART lead.

Then try this: select the channel on tv you want to watch/record , select Av or EXT (or whatever the scart input is called on the dvd recorder) and press record. NOTE: changing tv channels will affect the recording.........best get a separate freeview box so u can watch one while taping another.
