It sounds like some kind of bizarre plot to get media attention or money or both. If I didn't think any mother would put her child through a kidnap I would inclined to think she knew where she was all the time.
I agree, Supernick. One of the reasons behind the conviction of Lindy Chamberlain in the Australian dingo-baby case seems to have been that people, including the jury, thought she looked too calm and should have been in hysterics. Tthough she was jailed, she was later found to have been telling the truth. People are too ready to trust to their prejudices.
