I used to work in a posh coffee shop and can remember being told about such beans. I thought they were just taking the mick.

I would not think so.

Cats (unlike dogs) cannot survive without eating meat, so their "droppings" would probably not pass the Vegetarian Society's strict tests.

Don't bank on it Tiger, they'll probably have cats on the counter producing fresh "coffee" and they'll probably experiment with other animals, Dog's, Rabbit's and for that big hit how about some big cats! I said "hit" ok!

Someone who works for Thorntons told me about this at a presentation evening a couple of years ago, and allowed us to taste the crushed, raw beans - before he told us what they were! I should add that he also told us that Thorntons DO NOT use these beans in any of their products. It was just something he thought he might bring to show us.
