I cant see anything wrong in sampling grapes. Totally with you pasta. Sampling before you buy isn't something we do in this country but just buy on trust. In France for instance, they often offer samples of cheese, olives etc for you to try, as they do at French markets here.

I have asked to sample cheese in our markets but never tried that in Tesco. Probably get a strange look.
