Bets are binding in honour only, you have no legal obligation to pay.

You might get a broken limb if you don't.

Hey Donna, foolishly made a drunken bet on a game and he's called it in, my friend said he's having a laugh but I'm not to sure lol, would just like to know where I stand with it.
Not legally binding, but should be, if somebody shook my hand on a bet or any sort of deal then pulled out of it, I would not be very happy I would have the right hump.

That's what I was thinking ray....maybe I should find out if he's serious and pay up ( I hope not)....let this be a lesson learned, never gamble while playing the Wii lol!!!
Hi sandra, if it was a drunken bet, maybe he took advantage of the fact you were not thinking rationally, then he is wrong to do that and it should not stand.

Thanks ray, it was more a merrilly bet lol, I can remember making it : )
Hi Bigmamma XXXXX
I thought it could be classed as a verbal contract? Are you saying I have wiggle room?!
Usually when someone makes a bet like that, they get an a neutral person to hold the stake,
thus avoiding the problem you are facing now,

I aggree with Ray on this one, especially as when Iv'e made silly bets i have allways paid up, even if the other person has said no, it's O K, after all what's the point of making a bet if niether party intends paying up.
If you live in scotland your word is the law there anywhere else you don't have to worry, they haven't got a leg to stand on!
