Im thinking about becoming a driving instructor but would like to hear from any one who has done this and provide some advice on the pros and cons and the best way to set up (own bus, or a franchise). Is it a job with decent income etc. All comments welcomed and appreciated.

I was a driving instructor! I also had the advantage of being female and lots of work came my way because of this. However, I did not earn a lot of money from this. I started with a driving school and the franchise that I had to pay them was astronomical. Setting up on your own can be daunting as most pupils come from recommendations and you need a good name.DO NOT GO TO the school of motoring which is the best known in the UK , obviously I can't say the name of it.

If you are serious about going on to be an ADI try working for a small school with a small franchise until you have made a name for yourself.
Further to the above answer, my friend's husband has been learning to become a driving instructor with a well known national company. I can't say their name but it is three initial letters.
He's completed his 40 hours Part 3 training and is now working for them on a trainee licence. When he received his first payslip this month, after all his stoppages (including paying for using their car) he was left with less than 4 per hour.
