Pushed to the limit!

Do you ever find at work that you are pushed too far by someone? I nearly was today, and for me that is going some as I normally just keep my head down and get on with stuff! Basically, a while back we got a doberman pup, he was the most gorgeous boy and loved him to pieces. Main problems where he dminated Ashke who was the dog we already had. He also had a thing for eating through fence panels and ending up in the neighbours gardens. Because of Ashke not eating and also my partner had been offered a job abroad, we thought it best to re home Benson, and found him a fantastic home with a female doberman. The day they drove off with him was hell, I ended up in a heap in my front garden crying my eyes out.
That was 18 months ago, and we recently got a puppy due to my partner now working at home.
today, before work having a smoke, we were talking to someone about pets, and they said they had 1 dog and 6 cats, I jokingly replied that I had a bigger zoo then them with 7 cats & 2 dogs. Out of nowhere, the women I work with then said to everyone 'Well you just sold one dog to get a puppy'.

That might seem like nothing to most of you, but this morning at work it upset me so much and peed me off so much that I was shaking!
Now she may of meant it as a joke, but I think there are some things that joking or not just should not be said. She had no idea why we re homed Benson, and if we had kept him ourselves and Ashke had become ill because of not eating, she would of been so quick to jump in and have a go at me!
I may just be over sensitive, but I do absolutely everything I can for my pets to give them the best I can, and for her to say something like that, grrrrrr!
People can say what the hell they like about me, but for someone to make a comment like that, I was ready to have ago! It took all I had to not end up in tears this morning, and to not tell her just what I thought!

tbh wiggal - I don't think you should bother - what would it actually achieve? You are obviously very upset about it, but she will think what she wants regardless. I think that you would be wasting your breath (or fingers!). Forget about it for now - get her back later when she isn't looking. Sometimes people just don't have enough to do in their own lives and get off on making other people miserable.
We have a funny situation in our street at the moment - I have two neighbours with unruly sons that need taking in hand - the parents each blame the other child for leading theirs astray, but as an independant person, I think it is 6 and two 3s. I have had to go to both their doos recently about their childrens behavious as they have been damaging either my or community property. As a result, both mothers have decided not to speak to me anymore and are now best buddies. I think it is hilarious - one of them I never really spoke to anyway, the other I don't have a problem with other than her inability to deal with her child properly. The thing is, I know all the names that they each called each others children and sometimes wonder if I should put the cat amongst the pigeons and tell them. I will save it for a rainy day and some amusment further down the line. Maybe the next time one of the little darlings comes near my car with a stone in his hand!

I know how you must be feeling because when you have to make a hard decision like that, you hate yourself whichever way you choose to go and so anyone who says anything about it will upset you. She is probably either jealous or a b***h, either way a sad woman. Let he revel in her 'victory'. Everyone else will have forgotten what she said already. You love your animals, forget her, she's not worth it.
