Buildings history

Is there a way that i can obtain information about a buildings history such as its previous usage, panning documents, previous owner etc? Just wondering if i can do this online or should i go to the cocuncil?

This may be better in law, Wix, there are some really learned people in there used to this sort of stuff.

Try the website for your local planning dept - most are online now. I know I got a load of stuff about planning issues off the website of the local council when I was trying to research something. the land registry may also be able to help.
