I have a pentium 3 pc and a Tosheba pentium 1 laptop, both running Windows 98. I want to connect them together to transfer files. they both have a USB port. the laptop does not have a modem or lan card. How can i do this without buying a bunch of hardware. Thanks, Bob White

First, buy a null modem cable, it is possible to buy cables with both 9 pin and 25 pin serial and parallel connectors all combined in one cable. (1) Go to start, programs, accessories, communications and click on direct cable connection. If it is not there, you will need to add it. Go to start, settings, control panel. Double click add/remove programs, then click on Windows setup. Go to communications, details and select direct cable connection, you will probably need your Windows 98 CD now. Repeat step (1)
