Does anyone know where I can purchase a plastic surround for a double socket, similar to the finger plates available for light switches, but of course larger. It's to cover cracks in a tile. Thanks.
Available here in white and clear. (Scroll to bottom left of page).
I mentioned clear, since you could always paint the back of the plate to match your colour scheme.
Thanks Heathfield. Will retain this for future use. Good prices! I'm surprised that it's so difficult to find these double gang plates in the hight street. They would be very useful when wallpapering not having to cut around the socket.
When wallpapering, one doesn't cut around the socket - one takes the socket off (turning off power first), wallpapers over the wall, cuts a small hole to poke the wires through then re-attaches socket to wall. Bingo.
I would always do it builder'smate way. The diagonal cuts look horrible. But i have noticed that professional decoraters always do it the speedy way. Thats why I would rather DIY. PS. plumbed in a dishwasher yest new elbow joint tap fitting and all, ( smug mode)
Hi Buildersmate, yes, I do remove the socket when decorating, but if these surrounds were used the socket would not need to be removed, nor would the paper cuts have to be neat. Just a loosening of the retaining screws (after turning off current of course), and tucking the paper behind the surround plate. Also useful when painting the wall. It'll hide a multitude of sins.
