Sadly yes - the funk punk succombed to a heart attack in August. James had been in fragile health for some years, following a stroke in 1988, he also had a pacemake fitted. james was notorious for his prodigious drug ingenstion, and died as he lived, with nine separate drugs in his system at the time of his demise.

Thanks - was listening to him this morning as I cycled to work and just wondered, which prompted the question. In my opinion, he was superb and fairly unique.
