owww whats this pain?

sitting down, in the front and side of my hips down to my mid thighs (ish) reeealllly aches and i cant get comfy. its a bit like what my mum used to call growing pains only worse and now im 36 years old (bit old for growing pains). my only relief is to contort my legs into strange shapes to kinda stretch out the aching muscles... but its only temporary relief, as soon as i sit normally again it all really aches again. what is it?

Well, could be may innocent conditions, but the one that comes to mind is osteo-arthritis of the hip. I realise that you are relatively young for that condition, but you did say that you had "growing pains" as a child and that may well have heralded a congenital disorder ot the hip which has progressed. See yr GP as you might need X-Ray.
