Daily Telegraph 25,595 - Letters in clues in bold
2 Answers
I don't usually subscribe to conspiracy theories but I have noticed that a number of individual letters in the clues this week have been in bold print.
In today's (Saturday's) the "i" in "Pennsylvania" in 3d is in bold as is the "l" in "followed" in 1d.
Is the telegraph cryptic being used as a cipher to transmit government secrets? Are the telegraph typesetters (if they have such a thing anymore) becoming lax?
Or, is my newsagent having some fun with me using a black felt tip?
Seriously, has anyone else noticed this and what are your theories?
Interested to hear what you think.

I very much doubt it's the government introducing subliminal messages into our cryptic clues, but I'll keep my eyes peeled nonetheless ;-)
One thought - Charles followed Mary - this was quite a difficult clue I thought and the bold 'L' may have been an indication towards 'Literature' (only a suggestion) but it doesn't explain why the letter 'i' was in bold in the other clue.
I'm sure it'sjust a typing error :D

Glad it wasn't just me!
I like your theory re: 1d but then it begs the question what the bold "i" in Pennsylvania was an indication of??
I am sure you are right that it was just a typo but I am still going to take a note of the letters in case any more appear and it spells out some kind of secret message!
