After any usefull info regarding this. Looking in the near future to movin abroad (probbly a greek island) and settin up my own business, probably a bar as this is my trade.
Any decent web sites or info/experience on this would be gratefull. This is not for fun but a serious question. I've long wanted to move abroad and seeing as i already run a pub in england would like to try this abroad one day

My son was considering doing this in Spain a few years ago and I did look round for books to help him.
If you go to any decent bookshop (W H Smiths, Waterstones etc) and look in the travel section there are usually books about moving abroad or setting up a business abroad.
I went into Amazon online and searched under Living in Greece and found a few books, like this one (there are others)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Going-Live-Greece-Prac tical-Working/dp/1845280024/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 &s=books&qid=1208616835&sr=8-2

One other thing....
While doing research for my son I did find that the failure rate amongst people who go abroad and set up a bar is HUGE. Most people give up after a year or so.
You may be one of those who does well, but bearing in mind the failure rate make sure you do plenty of research.
Good luck.

eldiego316, I see you speak Greek, that is good.
I saw one of those reality TV shows a while ago about an English couple who went to Spain to open a bar, and could not speak a word of Spanish.
After doing up the bar they rang the local drink supplier to order the beer and other drinks.
The Spanish guy turned up and tried to take the order but he could not speak English (why should he) so they got in a right mess.
As the Spanish guy drove away the English bar owner turned to camera and said in an annoyed tone "He could not even speak English".
I thought, what I nerve, you go to Spain to open a bar, you cannot speak a word of Spanish, and you expect the Spanish guy to be able to speak English.
What an idiot.

Thanx to those who have offered advise. I've been running my own pub for 8 years now and luckily for me it's (touch wood) doing really well for itself. This is what i do and like to think i do well. I'm not jumping into this without thinking which is why i'm after help.
As most are aware the pub trade has hit a big downer in this country, big thanx to the government there!! Which is why i've become dissalusioned with life in this country and need a fresh challenge and as this is what i know i wanna try me hand abroad. If it fails it fails but i'd rather try and fail than sit down in 10 years time and think i wish i'd tried that.
Of course if/when i get the ball rolling your all welcome to come and sample my ale haha
