Hello, My daughter has been breast feeding her first baby for 2 months. But he is always after more than there is - especially at night and she is worn out. She is thinking of using Hungrier Baby formula. Any comments on it please. She is concerned that if she stops breast feeding he won't get his immune system up and running to it's best. thanks.
I breastfed both my babies for 8 months. Has she tried a dummy? I know a lot of people dont like them but they can be very helpful. Does baby fall aspleep on the breast and start feeding again onces moved? I learnt with my first that he wasn't actually hungry he just wanted to suck whilst he slept as it was comforting.
When my daughter was a baby, I breasfed her for 8 weeks until I felt as though I wasn't producing enough milk. I then swapped to formula and spent the next two weeks crying my eyes out!! If only my midwife had told me I could do both.........as soon as I gave her the first bottle, I thought 'that's it, I've blown it now'. Encourage your daughter to continue with a couple of feeds.......for some people, it's as much about the bond as anything else.
I had this dilemma and my health visitor told me that babies get all they need for their immune systems within the first two weeks of life if mum is breast feeding.
I breastfed all 3 of mine but I would give them a formula feed at night just so I could get a decent nights sleep.
Your daughter shouldn't feel guilty or worried.
