Fuel consumption -Renault 1.5 86hp desiel

Can you help

I have a Modus 1.5 desiel 86hp.

Around town I get arround 55 mpg which is fine. But on the motorway (at speeds under 70mph!!!!) and on a journey I struggle to get 55-56 to a gallon. The advertised mpg is about 62 combined and 69 extra urban. On a recent (steady) trip from Bristol to Southampton I got 56mpg in mixed motorway and 'A' roads. Renault garage does not seem interested. What should I do?

Also the official figures are based on someone that would drive by lightly blowing on the accelerator rather than using their foot, in the real world be happy with 55mpg, I get about 31 from my car.

you should be happy with 55 per gallon. i only get between 24 and 28 to a gallon and my partners car only does 15 to a gallon. im not complaining beacuse we enjoy the cars we drive but if your not happy then maybe think about changing your car!
