Sunday Times just ran a story about the great life the Bin Laden family has in Saudi.

Shouldn't the US be looking there? Or is it another country (like china) that it would wimp away from?

What I find perplexing is that Osama Bin Laden is seriously rich, his family are seriously rich. He is the head (apparently) of the organisation that attacked the World Trade Center(tre) twice, the Pentagon and the U.S.S. Cole to name a few.
Why have'nt the families of the bereaved sued the Bin ladens for compensation?
Under Western law he's liable, and under Islamic law he's liable (blood money) such law suits if taken out by governments (or public subscription) would quickly bankrupt the whole family and him (he'd soon show up) unless his whole family publicly disowned and denounced him which would be very damaging politically for him.

Why would you arrest someone's family because one member of the family happens to be a terrorist?. His family have nothing to do with his religious or politocal leanings.

Read Michael Moores book "Stupid white men" and you will see how the US govt help get the Bin Laden family out of the USA the dy after 911.

The whole rthing was purely about oil and the Bush family have dealt with the Bin Ladens for decades.

I've read "Stupid White Men" it was half of a good book, his understanding of the troubles in Ireland is risible.
I'm no expert but under Sharia law the family can be held liable for the offences of a sibling they would have to either defend him, disown him or compensate for him. Similarly if his family knew, were complicit in and partly funding his activities (as Michael Moore speculates, he went to an excellent private school by the way) they again would be liable.
A state prosecutor could bankrupt the richest people in months.
Usually in crime if you follow the money you'll find your man.

I have no doubt that Osama Bin Laden is still American agent and is on their payroll. But a huge number of people in Muslim countries and in the west as well, who have taken him as their hero are not known to America and are out of anyone's control. When Americans attacked Afghanistan in his search, I always said that there were only three scenarios and none going in American favour.

1 - They may succeed in killing him - Then he would become a bigger hero for many.
2 - Thy may capture him - Then they will have to hold a trial against him and that might bring so much un known into light. Which American Govt would not like.
3 - They may never catch him - Then American will lose credibility as according to their propaganda through media including Hollywood, they can even tell the sex of an aunt in the desert using their satellite.

So in other words no win for America.

Lol , sorry that was supposed to be Ant. You could tell I was sleepy at the time I was typing. But still we may take that as Auntie as well. As in Afghanistan it is difficult to tell whether it is uncle under the burqah or auntie.

Alas America cannot read your newspaper by satelite (nor is Google Earth done in that way) the close up shots you see of both are taken by aeroplanes. The whole story was cold war kidology, Ballard's "discovery" of the Titanic was for the benefit of the Soviets.
Bin Laden is a 21st century Hitler if you substitute kuffar for Jew you've pretty much got his mindset, a master race ruling over all.
Hitler was caught and convicted of treason, all the good that did. If they find Bin Laden then the best thing to do is just kill him and have done with. There may well be violence afterwards, but it won't last forever, if you have a trial etc it would just drag on and on and on.

It suits the 'hawks' in the US Government not to kill or capture Bin Liner, it gives the excuse for a huge defence budget to look for a 'bogeyman'
