Why?

Do people insist on going to the supermarket as a whole family - husband and kids in tow?
Surely this must make life more difficult not less?
Why doesn't one of parents stay at home with kids?

I went to a new store today, only just opened in my town (Netto) and this child was running around, taking things off shelves and poking fingers in the breads, its mother was about 20 stone and yelling at the top of her voice, she also had a baby in a pram which was crying (poor little thing) I know she must have been very stressed but ......can anyone one of you out there explain why its always the fat mums with bad teeth.
I was in Tesco today, and all the oldies were out.
I swear they were standing in front of whatever I wanted on purpose, then having a deep discussion on what to buy..
Would Tesco object if I mounted a small machine gun on the front of the trolley? I don't mind if they put a limit on how much I use it.

Hi everyone!
I think it's because with most women having the run of the kitchen and knowing what's needed, they're the ones who're most likely to know what's required during atheir weekly shop. If the woman can't drive, she'd need her partner to take her - and you can't very well leave the children at home. As Pasta says, maybe shops should provide a creche, or playground for the older kids. Better still - have good delivered to your door, but personally I like to pick and choose what I'm going to buy before I pay for it. Puss!!!! ROF!!! Don't know about your comments, but what gets me, are the parents who let their offspring eat a roll, or a bar of chocolate as they're going round - and then walk out without paying for it. Grrrr!

shantra ...do you live in England ?
My nearest stores are Newbury or Basingstoke.
30 per month is a good investment to have to not venture into Newbury or Basingstoke.
The maths says a single visit to the store =
Fuel cost = 5
Time taken = 2 to 3 hours ...even on min wage thats equal to 15 ....
and the hell of pushing a metal basket for 2 hours ...
If they charged 10 it would be worth it
