I take 2-3 a day and have for a few months. Quit smoking recently and haven't gained an ounce - don't know if it's got anything to do with 5-HTP tho. Never heard of it being used for this purpose before only for depression. Any claim of a stone in 2 wks is crap in my humble opinion tho....lol.
There was a flurry of interest in 5-HTP not so long back. It comes from the seeds of an African plant, but it's an amino acid, also found in foodstuff such as chicken.
5-HTP was thought to help with weight loss, but because it enters the brain and produces more seratonin, this is why your mood can be uplifted. I thought it was more widely used for weight loss than depression, but because of its properties, I imagine it'd be beneficial for both.
