For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.this puzzle only came out yesterday .... it is a difficult puzzle and already you are asking for answers to the most challenging clues ....
so you hit a couple of 'intersecting' clues that you cannot immediately answer - and so you make no continuing effort ...
very very pathetic ....
both these answers are on the Internet ... so presumably for you - it is necessary to rush , boast to others how much of the puzzle you have already completed, by setting out the number of letters ....
sarumite - we all know that you are good at this puzzle - but do you have to give out the answers to difficult clues so readily and SO EARLY - do you get some buzz out of doing so ?
in past days, there was an honour on puzzles like this one, quizmail etc whereby persons were given clues but only later on ....
there is something 'rotten' about the way the internet has taken over and negates the need for effort .....

Athenae, I have to say that I am partially in agreement with your comments, viz. that it is particularly early to be asking for answers!
However, this site has been set up for both asking questions and providing answers, and I am always willing to assist if I am able to do so.
To answer your question " do you get some buzz out of doing so" ? I would say that it gives me satisfaction in helping others in any way possible ... which is perhaps why my 'unpaid' chosen role in life is now as a full time carer.

..... partially in agreement with my comments- gives you satisfaction..... perhaps, you would like to take on board your partial agreement and think twice before giving out answers to two of the harder interlocking clues .... that require some effort .... the xword hadn't been published and available fo even 24 hours ....
This is an answer site, but somehow 'the code 0f understanding' that existed among early abers has 'gone'.
You are open to do as you wish, as any aber may -- and, if you don't then perhaps another will jump in to answer within hours ....
Nonetheless, this is an aspect of this site which too readily destroys the challenge ... when answers are given out in such a manner ....
You are an early ab member - so, you can recall earlier ways .....
I have much sympathy for some of the recent angst over quizzes where so many answers are given .....
It may not be wrong in the context of this site and the Internet ..... nonetheless, there is something that 'smells' whiffy! Morally, for me it goes too far ..... others have another viewpoint .... c'est la vie ... perhaps, my viewpoint is as the answer for 43a) !!

Athenae, I think you are being a bit harsh on sarumite.
On a personal level I try to do a/any crossword in one hit, i.e. not put it to one side for another day. My process is to fill in the answers I know, this sometimes means I can fill in a crossing clue. The I turn to books (I have about 12' feet of reference books). Then, for the unanswered, I turn to Google, ignoring answers on the answerbank. Not showing off, but this means that I will normally have finished "the generalist" in one to two hours. I after that time I have not finished the crossword then, and only then, would I turn to the answerbank.
Who is to say that JBW123 was not in a similar position?
And at what point in the sequence of looking in reference books, using Google and then using the answerbank does the search for an answer become "pathetic"?
However, that said, I agree giving a clue to a clue might be a more "elegant" way of helping people.
Each to their own.....

As said before ....please do not let the Generalist disintegrate into a tit for tat like the Listernites ..it's a crossword ..not a matter of life or death. Nothing to do with "honour " .
There is no code on here ..it's called Answerbank ..ask a question ..get an answer ..if you don't like then don't partake .Like anything else a computer has an "off " button so you don't have to look .Nobody forces you to look at it .
You can fill in your crossword or quiz in the knowledge that it is all your own work .Your morals .Your choice .If you think the internet is rotten then press that button !
You don't get a gong from filling in a crossword ....get a life athenae and stop picking on people .Walk a mile in their shoes and then start your carping .
At the end of the day someone wins it .
If it's not you then tough .
Like anything else it's the luck of the draw .It's not an ego trip and if we can all help one another along lifes rocky road then why not ?

If I may be allowed to comment....
This is the 2nd time in as many days that Athenae hasposted on this site - neither a question or an answer incidentally - with the apparent express desire to criticise and wind people up.
And you think JBW123 is pathetic. As expressed so eloquently by Shaneystar2, if you don't like the site and don't like the questions and answers provided then don't log on.
I'd like to say you won't be missed but then I would be the one criticising and being pathetic so I won't say that!

Hi macpark, and thank you for your supportive comments.
Athenae has a long track record of imposing critical and negative comments on this site, particularly when the generalist is published, and shaneystar and myself have been prime targets.
As far as I am concerned, I will continue to provide any answers within my remit.
I fully accept that many members do not wish to see clues answered at this early stage, but it is of course their prerogative simply to not open any such threads. Surely the objection cannot be that providing others with answers lessens ones own chance of winning? That is just too small minded to be !! (S)
