Job Searching while employed

How does an employer view you when they ask,"Does your current employer know that you are looking for another job?", and you answer ,"No."?

I'm not sure if this will answer your qouestion/s.
One of the methods they use is by chechking your cookies and temporaly internet folders.
One might be if they have an access to your PC where they can chck sent mails and the staff. There are also softwares that some employers install just to monitor/ see what's happening in their companies.
