Neighbour boundary problem
Hi
Last year the sectional fence between us and our neighbours finally started to fall apart.
I asked our neighbours if it was ok for us to replace the panels at our cost. They said they didn't want the same and wanted feather edge which I said would be ok and they agreed to go 50/50.. The concrete fence posts were out of line but wasn't noticeable from our side but like an idiot said I would be happy to have these changed too. They said they would get quotes but 12 months on they hadn't come back to us so we got some quotes. I again went to ask them and showed the quotes. I said they could get a quote elsewhere if they wanted but they said they were happy to go ahead with our best one. We finally had the work done this week and the builder sent us each an invoice. We even gave up about 4" of our garden to have the fence brought towards our house to give them more driveway at their request.
They have now written to the builder and claim they hadn't authorised the work and refused to pay. I'm not bothered about the money and have paid in full.
What I want to know is what I can do to get my own back! As the fence is ours can we paint it exactly how we want on their side? I know I can't paint offensive slogans but could I paint each strip a different morbid colour?
Any suggestions welcome and thanks to anyone who replies.

I dont think you would be able to go onto their land to paint the other side, but i cant see why you cant say.....remove a panel, paint it and put the yukky colour their side. No doubt they will then paint over it but at least you would have made your point. They are being tight and unreasonable. A friend of mine had trouble with a neighbour like that and rigged up a security spotlight shining right into their bedroom and hung things infront of the sensor so it was going on and off all night! Dont you think that was a really naughty thing to do ? !!!!!! : )
I don't know the legality but the fence is entirely on your land - 4 inches in. The legal boundary remains the same. Therefore paint it fuschia pink on their side - its on your land, you can do what you like. Or request that to have the boundary officially moved they pay you the value of the work that they have not paid for.
