unwanted programme

I want to delete a programme that should not have been downloaded, I believe it has introduced a virus!!!! To remove it gives a www link. I do not want to do this. How can I get rid of this menace. (I keep getting adverts popping up.)

Sounds like it could be a spyware program. Do you have Adaware or Spybot Search and Destroy? They are both free from the net and should shift it.

I have Nortonantivirus installed, but it seems to have found a way in.

how have you tried to remove this program so far, by it's own uninstall program or have you tried removing with windows using control panel?

I am not technically minded. So please bear with me.
I have tried to remove it through Control Panel but message says programme not found, and this name Yazzle1281OinUninst.exe is? This sounds suspicious to me. I am reluctant to do anything at the moment. I am having lots of adverts popping up - some say Windows Internet Explorer and then the name of the advert. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

There is a reference which looks very supertechie on Google (Type in Yazzle1281). I am sure that the advice you have been given by using Adaware and Spybot S&D is the best.

That's Purity. You are expected to use its uninstaller which is downloaded from it's website. But considering how bad the program is I never tell anyone to go there.

Then when you are bored, look around for folders, usually in Application Data and Program Files, that have ? in the names,
such as ??STEM and ??CROSOFT

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. I may have solved it by doing Systems Restore - so far so good!!

When I do have time to browse - how do I access Application Data?

Follow this path C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data
You will need to have Hidden files/folders showing, and it's best to check in all accounts.

Just an FYI, but nearly all malicious software adds itself to System Restore too.

Mac 70 - you are right. Problems have reappeared. Ads popping up, my screen freezing. I also have a message "buffer overrun detected". Also when I try to connect to websites a Windows message HTTP 044 - I'm just getting bogged down by all this. HELP!!! I'm a little grey haired lady.

I cant know what else is on your computer and posting detailed logs isnt possible on AB, but if you download and install the program I gave you the link for 2 replies ago, it should help.
