I've recently bought CSI series 4 on Ebay from a chap in Indonesia, I paid around 34.  However, I believe it to be counterfeit and so I have contacted Ebay to let them know about this.  However, it has been a week now and all I've have from Ebay is a standard e-mail response saying we're looking into it, and a survey asking how I feel they've dealt with the situation (not very well, I told them!!).  Has anyone had any similar experiences, and if so, how/were they resolved?

in my expereience the auction sites wash their hands of the situation.

i used to use qxl bfore ebay and won an auction for a dreamcast but the guy could not be contacted - this went on for a couple of weeks as i was adamant that i wasnt going to let him get away with it until i tried to involve the auction site.all they did was give out his phone no. and nothing else ! no warnings dished out nothing

Your best bet would be to contact ebay again.  These things take time, i know.  I had a similar experience with a guy who sold me a dodgy car and falsified the HPI certificate!

Don't leave it too long...ebay say they are "unable to help" if the item ended more than 90 days ago, as all items are deleted from their servers after this time.

If in doubt about the authenticity of copyrighted material it is always advisable you contact the Federation Of Copyright Theft (FACT), or you could unwittingly find yourself on the wrong end of the law.  People always say "it'll never happen to me" but there's no harm in being careful!
