My computer keeps switching itself off.  I don't think it's because of the laptop overheating so are there any viruses, like the blaster virus, that it could be?  Thanks in advance.

is it an AMD by any chance?

they overheat very easily,  likely there isnt enough ventilation and the BIOS sfety temperature cut out is kicking in.

download CPUcool (freeware) to get an idea of how hot it is running. In the event it has a temp of more than 65 degrees, you may want to consider a new tower case with 2 or 3 fans . I did that and now mine runs fine.

Have you taken a look at the power saving settings?

'Right-Click' the desktop, then choose 'Properties', Then Click the 'Screen-Saver Tab' then the 'Monitor Power' button.

Have a look to see if there are any settings that tell your computer to turn itself after a set amount of time.

It could well be your computer overheating. It doesn't sound like a virus. But you really should have anti-virus software, in any case.

Good luck.
