Americs- how much time left on a passport

My daughter is going to NewYork next April with the school (8-18April 2009), I have just got her passport out and it is valid to 14/01/2010
Will this passport be ok or will i have to get her a new one,

I;m sure I have read here that the US is OK with a passport that only has 3 months to run? Try searching in this section for posts by Beunchico or Dzug

The PP office won't let you renew it before she goes anyway as you can only do that up to 6 months before expiry

All you have to worry about is paying for it! :)

It's fine - the US authorities just require the passport to be valid until the day you leave the US. (I'm assuming it's a UK passport - if not different rules may apply).

Even if someone (or the school - I wouldn't put it past them to get it wrong) invents a non-existent 6 month rule you'll still be fine.
