overlapping double yellows...?

sometimes when i park outside my house, i end up slighltly overhanging the edge of the double yellow lines, by perhaps the length of the boot, or occasionally with a wheel just touching them - i realise legally this is probably still classed as wrong, but is there any guidelines for this? - would a parking inspector give me a ticket for it, or would they see it as your wheels are in the line and view as ok...?
or is it down to the individual?

thanks

As a rough rule of thumb, imagine that the lines marked the bottom edges of a brick wall built upon them. The law directs you to park your car with no part of it extended through this wall.
kempie, that's how my wife parks!!!! the brick wall means stop! aaaaggghhhh!
I was told that as long as the wheels are not touching the yellow lines you are ok
