They're not ones for all the fuss and fanfare of dog owners. (THere's pratically a parade everytime someone comes in to my house at the moment cause of the mutt, the cats are far more dignified about it). Just get hubby to quieten down around them and not to fuss over them too much and they'll adjust.
Alternatively, make him pretend he's allergic to them and watch the little blighters suddenly find him the most interesting thing in the room (as is the case with one of my best friends).

I love cats, but can rarely get them to to me. I am a quiet person, I don't fuss them, but still no joy. My closest friend had three cats, who streadfastly ignored me every week for six years when i called round, prior to their move to the USA to live. Except when hr went away. and I had a key to feed them. Then I was Mr Wonderful, purring, rubbing, the full works - i even treated them to tuna once a week, which they went mad for. Then, when he came back - the cold shoulder again. i accept that - cats are independent and choosy with their affections.
A dog will give you undying love and affection - a cat will take a message and get back to you,

I can't answer this fillyfi, cats are just funny so and sos. I would suggest he ignores them - they really do not like being ignored ALL of the time and then he will suddenly become an object of curiosity.
Having said that, my ex bf called last night. My older cat immediately remembered him and turned into a tart (they always had a special relationship). She pointedly ignored me and would not give me a kiss when I asked her (she normally does), but was kissing him like a ****!!!
