just after christmas - early january, i think I broke my little finger. I just banged it but it was INCREDIBLY painful! I strapped it to the next one and carried on - busy busy, you know how it is. Anyway, it's still quite sore and I can't use it the same as I used to. (You'd be surprised how much you use your little finger!) Is it too late to have it looked at? ta muchly x
but supposing it's kinda healed, and it's just healed funny.
There's nothing they could do, is there? I really don't want to waste nhs time. I know i should have gone sooner.
I suppose really I'm asking:
If you break something and leave it, will it eventually get better itself?
thanks x
Just go to the doc hon,you wont be wasting nhs time, thats what their there for,if there's anything they can do then they will do it otherwise you could be in pain for a very long time
A broken bone doesn't heal itself as in mending itself as it was. The body produces a substance in the break to join them together. Your finger if broken will have healed itself into the position you put it into. If this is the case, the surgeon can break your finger again (same place) and then set it properly. It doesn't hurt as they do it under local anaesthetic and it's noit bone they're breaking but this 'substance'. Hope this helps!
Is it tool late to seek advice? NO. Is it too late to re-break and reset it ? YES. Sounds as though some arthritis has developed and may need treatment in the form of anti-inflammatory drugs. See your GP and don't worry no harm as been done.
