My wife and i are going to Kenya for a two week holiday. We are staying at the Scorpio Villas in Malindi. I was wondering what is the best currency to take with us as the pound is so strong against the dollar i was thinking dollars. Also we are looking at taking a three day safari but are wondering whether to go on the one that the hotel provides or look around when we get there? We arrive on the 5th Aug 2008. And if anyone has any tips or must sees these are always welcome!!!
Thanks

If you take $$ you will be hit with two lots of exchange costs - when you change to $$ and again in Kenya.
we stayed in Mombasa so different resort but used the following company for our tours - they were fantastic and if they cannot arrange for you then I am sure they would have contacts for other operators. At least gives you a comparison of prices. They did everything for us - even when not on 'duty!'

I suggest you use dollar. It's widely used there. For safaris try www.sunbreak-travels.com. They took us for 8day safari and we really enjoyed every bit of it. They offer ecxellent services at very reasonable prices.
