how long will my boyfriend have in prison for attempting to wound someone plus carrying an offensive weapon in a public place, however he did not harm anyone. he has been found guilty on both charges, and is now waiting to be sentanced in a few weeks. we would like a rough idea on how long he will have. any one got any ideas. thanks x

this will ruffle a few feathers. why go out with a weapon in the first place, it aint big or clever... some will say he deserves time out..... dont u think tho that this is why alot of people get scared to walk out alone at night and why theres alot of pointless deaths... just a thought...

it is impossible to say....there are so many factors that determine how long someone gets or if they are imprisoned at all. There are many alternatives to prison. Factors considered will include previous convictions and any aggravating circumstances. maybe the victims feelings too.
your barrister or solicitor who has all the facts of the individual case will give you some indication of what sentence your b/f should get but ultimately its down to the judge....and each one tends to act differently. Sentencing guidelines do exist but thats all they are...guidelines

By the looks of the typing and gramatical errors of your thank you answers you are possibly someone who has a couple of kids, says INNIT alot and can't wait for the money to be paid into your account avery week.

Oh and as for your question that's in the Adverts section and could do with putting in the Law section I hope he gets whatever he deserves as carrying a weapon is not on and should be punished accordingly.....

It also depends if he has any previous convictions.

The way judges have been letting off people for similar offences, he might just get a slap on the wrist..

In Singapore he would get 24 lashes of the cane for each offence.

In the UK up to 6 months for each.

Maybe time to find a decent law-abiding boyfriend, rather than a loose cannon willing to sacrifice his freedom with you, for a spell inside.
