Never done it before so going to have a go this evening. I presume you part cook the sausages then add the batter mix (2 eggs, 4 oz flour, 1/2 pt milk) to the sausages and cook in a hot oven until risen.
Does anyone have anything they put with it eg does anyone add chopped onions or mushrooms to the batter.
As above but I put onions in it ..brown the sausages and onions in the oven in a little fat ...when they are spitting hot sling the batter on ..we'll be round later :))
Cook the sausages for about ten minutes on GM7 before adding the batter for another 20-25 mins. I always add a bit of ground nutmeg to the batter as well. Yum!
The batter will rise best if the flour is sieved and thoroughly whisked, perhaps several times. I also prepare it before cooking the soss so it can warm up a bit if the milk has come out of the fridge. As with Yorkshire pud (same mix) the oil/lard/dripping should be very hot as you pour in the batter. Garry Rhodes suggested sometimes making them similar to a naan by adding a little curry powder or chopped coriander and turmeric with perhaps lime or lemon zest.
