Changing language on a mobile phone - Sony Ericsson W580

My grandson has somehow managed to change the language on his Sony Ericsson 580 to some foreign language - looks a bit like Japanese. Can anyone help me to get it back to English for him. Unfortunately I can only get as far as settings as the language defeats me. I tried to download an instruction boolet but keep getting the 404 error. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi. Try Menu - then settings - then under settings you will scroll down and see language you should be able to change it there

I have tried settings (I just recognised it by the little picture of a spanner). This then brings up a list of unrecognisable words, first one being TSE AKARETSANG. I have tried scrolling through them but can find nothing remotely english.
