Thanks for this hint,Cruciverbali... I do not know if I have the right letters, but the following are still giving me some problems:

4d: ?E?T?R
5d: ?A?A?
24d: ????ST??
25d: ??U?

23a: ???W
28a: ?LE?
30a: ?E?U??

I have several letters for 1a, 21a, 43a, 1d, 9d and they look challenging...I keep looking for the right word to get it going...

Thanks for any hints in advance!

Lezapping, a few hints

4d has no definition and so is connected to the theme word similar to the way 32d is.

5d Artist = RA + a three-letter word for brown.

24d theft = heist, citizen upset = tic (reverse of cit)

25d love = o. Think of a word for work starting with o, 3rd letter u

23a the answer is a hidden string within the clue's letters

28a parking = p + a three-letter word for meadow

30a has no definition and so is connected to the theme word similar to the way 32d is.

Sorry for this tardy reply...my computer was giving me endless trouble, but it's now back. Thanks for all the help with this one. I have got all the answers except for 1a, 43a, 1d, and 9d which still have me in suspense though I now have the words from Bradford's...I still do not see how to fit them, but I keep working at the challenge...
N0.1862 looks interesting! I just got it and I have an idea about the title and am just waiting to see if my first instinctis the right one!
I will be back!
Many thanks again!

One of the perimetrical words starts in square 3 and the next one starts in square 7 as part of the clockwise string of words. No other numbered square in the perimeter marks the starting point of a perimetrical word.
