How long to bear Fruit?.

My wife has grown an Apple Tree from seed, type unknown, its about two years old, in a tub, and thriving, she asks, would anyone know approximately how long it might take to bear fruit?.

It may not ever bear fruit, Lonnie (long time, by the way)... problem is, almost all apples are the product of hybrid trees. The fruit of hybrids rarely follows true, meaning, the tree that is growing may not even be similar to the tree from which the apple orginally came. If, however, the seed was obtained from a common stock, then the apple tree should produce a few blossoms this year, but unlikely be followed by fruit. You can expect more blossoms next spring and even a few apples. However, it'll be about three seasons before one would see much in the way of produce. Be sure, (since the tree is tub planted) not to take it inside for the winter. It must have cold temperatures to thrive in the spring. Best of luck!

My husband has grown an apple pip. The resultant plant(affectionately known as "Pip") is going from strength to strength. Cannot remember when he planted it, but it is thriving, starting out with a couple of apples (edible), and more each year. Must know it's loved (and it is doing way better than the commercial one in the back garden!!!!
