germinating hazel nuts

Collected a few Hazel nuts last year and would like to grow a hazel, anyone any ideas on how to germinate the nut?

I know that some tree seeds/nuts have to be frozen (can`t recall the term for this) before they will germinate, so pop them in the freezer for a few weeks first.
