Virtual memory is a part of the hard disk that windows uses as an 'overflow' when you run out of RAM. Your better off getting more RAM, its not expensive.

The more RAM you have, the more virtual memory you will need.  The guidelines for RAM to Virtual memory ratio is 3:2.  So if you have 512Mb RAM, you need to set your virtual memory to 768Mb.  If you are getting an error saying that your virtual memory is too low then you are either running out of disk space (so the OS can't make the virtual swap file bigger), or the original setting for the swap file size wasn't enough.  Have a look here on how to change the virtual memory settings :
