They have regular patrol lines so if you wait you will always see them! Generally along a long line of trees besides a bridle path. Plent of song birds to choose from but more likely sedge and reed warblers. The tree line overlooks a very long reed bed stuffed full of warblers.
Heard one again today (Dorset).
Hi Kleiber - It is the male that gives the familiar cuck - oo, but the female also calls with a bubbling sound. Learn something knew all the time, as I've heard this call, but didn't know who made it :
