Pension Credit Enquirey?
My next door neighbour was a full time self employed taxi driver and due to ill health has been on Pension Credits for the past 3 months.
He recieves approx 124.00 a week but would like to work a few hours a week to get himself out of the house as he is bored and a few hours outside would do him good.
He is allowed to earn up to about 99.00 a week which you have to disclose and it is deducted from his P/C.
If he told them he wants to work a few hours a week and earn about 50, 60 would they accept his word, or think he is trying to cover himself and be earning a lot more.
He was going to ask them himself but afraid that if he does they might watch his movements, which would mean that everytime he goes out in his taxi to the shops etc, they might think he is working.
He is one of the old school and is not a sponger or trying to cheat the benefit system.
