Questions about 3 payg mobile broadband

I currently use a payg dial up internet connection but I am thinking of getting 3 payg mobile internet as i have seen positive feed back about it. If anyone on here has it can you tell me does it come with a free email address or do you have to get your own such as Google mail or hotmail? If so can you get any of these to download direct to thunderbird?
lastly I have a firewall and AVG free 8 installed should I be safe or will other people locally be able to pick up what i am doing and get my passwords.? I have heard this can happen
with ordinary broad band with a wireless router connection.

I don't have a mobile broadband but can answer some of your questions:

It does come with its own email accounts - you have to use hotmail, yahoo, googlemail and similar.
Googlemail does work very well with Thunderbird.

It is not compatible with these programs:

Your firewall and avg should be fine.

As with any wireless internet access the data could be insecure, but if you are careful there should not be too much problem
