Clothes collections..

Hey!

This is probably the wrong place to post this but dont really know where to put it and more likely to get a response in here to!

At the minute, well, Im having a break at the mo, but I am sorting through a pile of my clothes that is just soooo huge, last night it was 2/3rds of the way up the bedroom door!

Wondering if there is anyway I can get the clothes collected, or take it somewhere where it can be sorted to go to Burma something like that? Its all my clothes that are too small or I didnt even know I had and there is a huge pile so far, and im not even half way through! (around 3 bin bags full to go already!)

Any ideas or suggestions would be great ta!

Hi Wiggal,

When my Mum died, I packed up her clothes (her wishes) and we had about 20 black bags. I contact the Oxfam shop and they refused to collect!!
So did the other on the High Road and in the end my Dad just dumped them outside the shop in question.

just take them to a charity shop .the one at the hyde is for cancer research

We get bags delivered from a well known charity shop saying they'll pick them up on a certain day, but they never do. So annoying ! You should sell some on ebay. You could make a profit !

...or dont supermarkets sometimes have collection bin thingys for clothes, my one does

A lot of the recycling centres have a Salvation Army bin for clothes I think.

If you have a charity shop in your town, they will collect clothes if you phone them.

Do not give to people leaving collection bags for 'the third world'. Those are a scam and the clothes are sold for profit making somebody very rich.

Try advertising your clothes on your local *freecycle* group. People post about what they have that is too good to put in with the rubbish or what they are looking for. The only condition is that it must be for free (ie no charge) and no animals. Ever since Boo mentioned this group to me, I've got shot of loads of unwanted stuff (from vintage hi-fi to a little vacuum cleaner and lots of stuff in between). You post an *offer* and then local people who are interested in taking up your offer will email your user account on freecycle which gets passed to you.

Here's a typical Offer:-

OFFERED - Ladies Clothes Size 12-14 Suburb/Area, Mytown. Have large quantity of ladies dresses, tops, shorts, etc, to go in one go. Unable to deliver, sorry.

Here's a typical Want:-

WANTED - Blinds for conservatory (previous owner took them with her), 2 No 6ft x 4ft windows. Can collect.
