A Pogrom was an attack against a group of Jews, mainly in Russia from the 1880s onwards. The attacks were extremely violent and usually wiped out entire streets and villages. Many of the pogroms were organised by the Black Hundreds, a sort of paramilitary organisation claiming loyalty to the church and the Czar.

 

I think Yeah Bee is exaggerating somewhat ;-)
