wood ash

Can anyone tell me if wood ash is any good for using in the garden. I have loads of it and don't know if I can use it or just throw it away?

Chuck it on and fork it in...it's brilliant. Some people say that by leaving it on top and using it as a mulch, it deters slugs.

sorry hammernan I've just started this garden and it has loads of slugs in it so this ash would will help to get rid of them hopefully. thanks again.
