White Wiggly Worms

I wonder if you can help, i have had an itchy bottom for a couple of days and i have just noticed tiny tiny little white worms in my poo! I have made an appointment for the docs but its not for another week! Does anyone know what this is likely to be, and is there anything i can buy over the counter in the meantime? Sorry its a bit disgusting!!

This is thread worms. It's very common in youngsters and comes from not washing your hands thoroughly. You can get an over the counter medicine which is like a powder that you mix with milk and then drink.

As Cymnbeline says, you can buy products over the counter but you should also make sure every member of the family takes it as well.

go to the pharmacist, and don't get the pwder you put in milk or water, it tastes vile and nothing disguises the taste at all. It doesn't disolve, it just suspends. Yuck.

Instead, ask for the tablets. You can swallow them whole and buy them in family packs too. I forget the name, but the pharmacist will know. Just ask for the once tablets for threadworm. If you have had this for a while, it is likely you will need to take another tablet in a fortnight I think, but the leaflet will tell you.

You are not dirty, please don't be alarmed. You can get it from not washing hands religiously, but depending on where you work, this is not always practical, threadworm eggs survive in all conditions, including on hands and also everywhere else. I was infected once when I worked in school and I do make sure I wash my hands before eating, but it is so easy to be infected when around small children. The estimation is that 1 in 4 children in all playschools and primary schools has threadworm at one time..... that's a lot of kids. If you have kids, you prbably have picked it up form them. As the other posters say, treat the WHOLE family!

You need to ask the Pharmacist for OVEX. They are in a cute little box designed for kids! My advice is to buy 2 because it is very common to get re-infected.You scratch, and without thinking can touch your face, mouth, towel and clothes. It is best to get everyone in your family/household to take a pill too, as it spreads SO easily.

Scarlett's beaten me to it. Ovex is the treatment and don't be embarrassed to ask, the chemists sell lots of these to young mums.

garlic will remove these worms..get some good strong garlic tablets and include garlic in your food and you will probably have got rid of them before you see the doctor..

These worms you have might be pin worms.they are about a centimeter long and very skinny.They can be very annoying when you go to bed and somedays they dont really bother you.I have had them recently and gotten rid of them by taking a perscription drug
