My sister's reading teacher gave her an extra credit question. --> In the nusery ryhme "hickory, Dickory, Dock . . .", why did the mouse run up the clock and back down again at one? Any ideas????

1.  The clock was a cuckoo clock.  When the clock strikes the hour, a bird pops out of a window in the clock.  That scared the mouse and he ran, out of fright.  2.  The clock was another type of clock, like a grandfather clock, that simply chimed at the hour and the noise scared the mouse.

Okay go for the big one:

How old is your sister, 35? 15? or 5?

If she is five get her to lisp:

The Opies write mainly about nursery rhymes and say that looking behind them for meaning is a waste of time. Children certainly do not chant rhymes because they portray events of years ago.

See if she gets the extra credit point or a slap around the ears for cocking snooks - try to video this exchange. it will be like that scene in one of the Steve Martin films.......
