How painful are Tattoo's?

On a scale of 1 -10 how painful is it to get a tattoo. I've just made the appointment for my first one, eek and I'm a wee bit nervous now. Should I be prepared for agony? or is it a scratching sensation? I'd appreciate honesty from those AB'ers who have tattoos. Thanks Flo xx

depends on where it is rather than pain threshold. Arms are ok, upper back is ok. Lower back is a bit more painful than upper back. Stomach was unbearable for the whole hour :-x

Thanks Booldawg, its going on the inside of my wrist. Its not a huge detailed piece either so I'm only expecting it to take about 15 minutes to complete.
I'm hoping I'm not a complete wuss and I can last that long.

lower legs and feet are agony lol

Lower back, below the "pant line" warms you up lol

arms arent too bad, I usually manage to watch lol

i had a butterfly done just above my ankle. it only took about 10 minutes, id say about a 6 out of 10, and i have a low pain threshold! it wasnt as bad as i thought

i found the inside of my wrist my easiest tattoo to get , didnt hurt at all i sat and watched him do it.

i have one on my ankle, i am a complete wimp, it took ten mins, it hurt i won't lie, but was bearable! you will be fine! i tell you it hurt more the day after!

I think it only starts getting sore depending on how long it takes to do the tattoo to be honest...I've had 4 small names and a scotland flag on my shoulder blade and that one was the worst as it took a bit longer to colour in....my hubby has loads and he never batted an eyelid.....what's your pain threshold like? LOL

Although if LouBrush can handle it, then surely you must be able to.

I'm feeling OK about it, just a little nervous. I think my pain threshold is quite high, and it won't take long so I should be fine.

I can't have a drink before it, they won't tattoo you if you've been drinking, but you can get me one after to numb the pain :o)
