Accident at a roundabout and everything that goes with it!

Hi everyone,

This is going to be long!

I was hit by a car that tried to undercut me on an exit. We were both in the correct lane to go over the roundabout, I was in the middle lane, he was in the left lane. I was at least 50 metres in front of him. I checked my mirror, indicated to exit. He then slammed his accelerator to the floor and comes up my inside. By the time he gets to my inside I had already left the roundabout. He is blaming me, saying I was in the wrong lane, which isn't true. I just know it's going to go 50/50 or similar! What do you guys think?

Also, my insurance company said it could take upto a year to sort it all out! Ridiculous! But, I have been hoping to get a new car in the coming weeks. I won't be going with my current insurer as I don't like the way they delt with me etc. What do I say to the next insurer? There isn't an option on the online quotes etc for a claim that is in dispute and still open! What do I do?

I think there is a ruling that states that for roundabout exits that are sign posted past the 12 o clock position then the right hand lane should be used.

Were you in the correct lane?

If you were then the other car was at fault for undertaking.

Oh really?! Yes, I was in the correct lane. The straight over exit was past the 12 o Clock position! Oooh, interesting!

Hi, For you to turn left at a rounabout you should be in the left lane, Also if you were going straight ahead you should be in the left lane, But we can not all be perfect drivers can we???

If two lanes for both entry and exit roads straight ahead, you could be using the right lane TWR.

In fact the highway code says left lane for first exit, right lane for last exit, and appropriate lane for any other exit.

sorry 2 hear of ur misfortune. im currently goin through a claim after some ******** drove into the side of me, and he isnt admitting it!! its goin to court soon, and i cant wait just to get it over and done with. Anyway, my best advise is to seek a solicitor. im using irwin mitchell, and they are supposed to be one of the best for our circumstances. good luck x
