I dont know if dogs get sun stroke but I do know Max (Long haired GSD) prefers to spend the hottest parts of the day in the shade. Hope everything turns out well for your staffy
I agree lovell123. Doggie sounds poorly - you should take him to the vet today to get him checked out. Being sick for 3-4 days does not sound good.
He will be badly dehydrated and needs help.
We also only ever take pup out early morn and eve in this hot weather. Then he will find a shady spot to send up the zzzz's!
We always carry water with us for pup to drink, whatever the weather conditions. Another tip in this hot weather is to crush up ice cubes and put them in the water bowls - very refreshing for them.
Pop him off to the vets for a good check over - will give you peace of mind and hopefully will sort out his blip.
Hope all goes well with staffy - sure all will be fine in day or so. x

Can't believe you took a dog for a walk for 3 hours when it was very hot. You are lucky it didn't collapse. I work on a market in a seaside town and you would not believe the number of people who drag their poor dogs round in the heat. One bloke even pulled his dog away from the water bowl we had put out for the poor dogs. Also on Sunday we did a country fair, and it was too hot for the people let alone the dogs, and one bloke had a bulldog, which he walked round most of the day. It was really suffering and everyone was looking at him, and I had to say something, so I told him he should be ashamed at being cruel to his dog. All I got was a mouthful of abuse but then other people started having a go at him and he walked off dragging the poor dog. For dog's sake leave them at home in the shade.
lovell, all will be well. Get doggie checked out, he will recover, but unfortunately, yes the heat would have affected him.
Hope all is well with staffy - let us know how you get on.
Best in future to walk him early morn and evening when its cool, then let him relax through the day with loadsa cool water to lap up and a nice cool area.
Keep in touch. :o)

Another thought lovell - if perhaps you can't walk doggie early morn or eve due to work/family commitments ..... do you have woodland near you - with plenty of shade to walk staffi through the day? Its lovely and cool and the dogs love scampering round the trees - loads of lovely smells.
Also, if you are advised to put staffi on chicken/rice diet for a while to settle his tum ...... try a small bit at a time - as much as our pup loves chicken - it does not agree with him -
and many of my doggy owner friends have said the same.
It works for some doggies tho not all.
Just a thought. :o)

I am glad that you phoned the vet. It's the ears that are the most vulnerable on white animals. Apparently pigs suffer badly from sunburn and need suncream, although I don't know if farmers apply it!!
No more long hot walks, eh!
