Get over yourself Robbie

Robbie Williams returned to his (and my) home town of Stoke last week to see his best friend Jonathan Wilkes in the local theatre.
fterwards, the two adjourned to a local Chinese buffet restaurant for a meal. Before they went in, Robbie's 'people' requested that all diners place their mobiles in a box provided, so that no-one could snap the pair, or advise the paps they were there.
As a thank-you, Robbie paid for the meals of everyone in the restaurant.
So - was that fine and dandy - a free meal for a minor inconvenience or,
should the Robster simply go about his business quietly, and realise that he will not be noticed unless he makes a fuss like this?
For the record, I would have refused to hand over my phone, and i would have walked out.
Any observations?

However that being said, I'm afraid I'd have gone along with his diva like demands. Afterall we are talking Robbie here, I'd have stayed to gawk, couple that with a free meal.....and well...no contest really.

I wouldn't have given my mobile over either, and I wouldn't have been interested in taking his photo.
Something similar happened to a group of us who were out in London. The trouble was that we were with an actor, and it all got a bit embarrassing. He is a good friend, but not when he's had a few drinks. I got the train home after cutting the night short. I don't put up with diva nonsense.

The best one I ever done was at Walthamstow dogs, Teddy Sheringham was sitting near us with his then bird, Mandy Smith
My girlfiend and the other couple with us were starstruck
I asked Teddy if he would be so kind and say "Hi Andy how`s it going" as he walked past our table
10 minutes later Teddy walked past and said it and I looked up and said "Not now Teddy I`m busy"
The look on their faces was priceless

Seeing as I always have my phone turned off in public places, I too would have handed it over and enjoyed a free meal. I also hate the fact the mobiles are now cameras and that people can't go anywhere without a mobile phone and I object to hearing mobiles ringing in restaurants, etc. when I am in them. I do not want to be party to other peoples lives (or lack of them)!. Rant over.
I think all people should go quietly about their business and realise that most of us just aren't interested in what they're doing unless it directly effects us or someone we're with. Asking for mobiles to be put away is pretty much the same as annoucing your presence.
If he really wanted privacy they'd have got a take away, a lot of people create their own myth/hype. The danger is when they start to believe it themselves.
