for the last six years,i have been working directly below very high voltage powerlines,a proportion of the time was working 12 hour shifts, this is in open ground no shelter,i am now experiencing several ailments, including nausea, overheating, trouble with my joints, and other more serious symptoms,i have not talked to anyone about this as i dont want to jeopardise my job, till i know i have a right to be worried about health effects, should this not have been risk assessed by the local authority who my company is working for involving public amenities and also my company, are they liable for allowing us to work in this way, when i say directly below i mean "directly below.and i am worried about my health. i would be grateful for any advice on the best way to handle this.
i would seriously consider getting the hse [health and safety executive] down to the site where you are working, get any union you are with involved, and go to your doctor immedeatley.your company has a duty to ensure that you and your colleages work in a safe envioroment.it doesnt matter if you are on 3.000 a week its no use being the richest bloke in the cemetary because you havent queried your employees obligations towards safe working practices......DO IT NOW MATE..
Do as stokeie says, I do believe what power lines/high voltage pylons etc send out can be harmful, get it checked out now, hope it turns out well for you, but don't delay, your health is priceless, Ray
